Philip Sheppard

Composer

Philip Sheppard is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music and virtuoso cellist who has composed scores for film, documentary, video games, television, and theatre; and has worked with distinctive music visionaries including UNKLE, ODESZA, Model Man, and Scott Walker. His score for In the Shadow of the Moon received an International Film Critics Award nomination for Best Original Score for a Documentary and won numerous accolades including the Sundance Audience Award for World Cinema Documentary. His music has covered a stunning variety of other documentary subjects as well: Bobby Fischer Against the World about the late chess master, tragic sports/war doc The Tillman Story, and the intimate Love, Marilyn about the personal journals and letters of Marilyn Monroe. Easily adaptable between mediums, Philip's TV docuseries credits include the Emmy-nominated HBO's thrilling Golden State Killer true crime I'll Be Gone in the Dark as well as Human Universe exploring answers to some of mankind's most profound questions. He also applied his impeccable talent to score the critically acclaimed Quantic Dream video game Detroit: Become Human. Aside from his extensive media credits, Philip has also produced, conducted, musical directed and arranged many large scale and complex live events including the 2008 Beijing Olympics closing ceremony, the national anthems for the 2012 London Olympics, the Tour de France, and the Rugby World Cup. Accustomed to recording at prominent studios with large companies of players, Philip's wide-reaching talents enable him to accommodate projects from the massive to the modest with originality and authenticity.

Percentiles are each film's standing among all films on MovieCove; the typical film is the median, so one outlier cannot drag it. Percentiles and reviewer scores count the films IMDb credits them on, for now; the Midcredits score bands, the shape of the crowd and the two cards count their MovieCove titles, shows included (a show ranked among shows), appearances as themselves left out. A descriptor is the shape of a title's IMDb rating distribution against the catalog; "most divisive" needs a spread wider than half of all titles, and a card names only a principal credit: a craft role, and on a show a crew role or a run of episodes, never a courtesy credit or a one-off guest spot.
