Gene Back
Gene Back, born in New York and based in Los Angeles, is a film composer and multi-instrumentalist whose recent work spans critically acclaimed films like Randall Park's directorial debut, "Shortcomings," and the powerful biopic "Cabrini," directed by Alejandro Monteverde. Beyond film, Gene most recently produced and co-wrote the song "Dare To Be" with Andrea Bocelli featuring Virginia Bocelli, their first original duet together. He has also collaborated with other internationally renowned artists and bands, ranging from Gotye, Talib Kweli, to The Books. With a background as a classically trained violinist, influenced by a life spent on self-recording and continuously evolving his multi-instrumental craft, his signature playing style is heard on every single film score and composition, whether it's with a full symphonic orchestra, electronic acoustic chamber ensemble, or folk song. His ability to insert his unique voice across genres has also extended to dozens of major advertising campaigns, XR and theater. As the first American composer selected as a BAFTA Breakthrough, Gene is an avid hiker with a deep appreciation for nature and homemade culinary art.

Reviewers score the sound and music 62/100 in their films, across 6 reviewed titles; fans 75, detractors 23. The element that speaks to their work as a composer.
Percentiles are each film's standing among all films on MovieCove; the typical film is the median, so one outlier cannot drag it. Percentiles and reviewer scores count the films IMDb credits them on, for now; the Midcredits score bands, the shape of the crowd and the two cards count their MovieCove titles, shows included (a show ranked among shows), appearances as themselves left out. A descriptor is the shape of a title's IMDb rating distribution against the catalog; "most divisive" needs a spread wider than half of all titles, and a card names only a principal credit: a craft role, and on a show a crew role or a run of episodes, never a courtesy credit or a one-off guest spot.
