Reginald Mills

Editor, also director · Died July 1, 1990, aged 77 · London, England, UK

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Reginald Cuthbert Mills (15 September 1912 - 1990) was an English film editor. He graduated from Cambridge University with a degree in modern languages in 1934. He spent World War II serving in the Royal Artillery, and was stationed in an AA battery on the Thames Estuary throughout the whole of the London Blitz. After the war he began a fruitful association with the film-making partnership of Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger, beginning in 1946 with A Matter of Life and Death, followed by Black Narcissus (1947). Mills received an Academy Award nomination in 1948 for his work on the duo's ballet masterpiece, The Red Shoes. Mills edited many British films throughout the 50s, 60s and 70s, including The Spanish Gardener (1956), Joseph Losey's The Servant (1963) and The Tales of Beatrix Potter (1971). He received BAFTA nominations for his work on two projects with director Franco Zeffirelli: Romeo and Juliet (1968) and Jesus of Nazareth (1977). His last credit was as consulting editor on another Zeffirellli picture, The Champ in 1979. Reviewers score the pacing 45/100 in their films, across 17 reviewed titles; fans 53, detractors 30. The element that speaks to their work as an editor.

Percentiles are each film's standing among all films on MovieCove; the typical film is the median, so one outlier cannot drag it. Percentiles and reviewer scores count the films IMDb credits them on, for now; the Midcredits score bands, the shape of the crowd and the two cards count their MovieCove titles, shows included (a show ranked among shows), appearances as themselves left out. A descriptor is the shape of a title's IMDb rating distribution against the catalog; "most divisive" needs a spread wider than half of all titles, and a card names only a principal credit: a craft role, and on a show a crew role or a run of episodes, never a courtesy credit or a one-off guest spot.
